OUI DANSE
Challenges physicality
Dares imagination
Reconnects with humanity
In French, OUI DANSE means YES DANCE. “YES” for positivity. OUI [ WE ] for UNIVERSALITY.
OUI PORTRAYS THE HUMAN CONDITION WITH GROTESQUE ELEGANCE, BOLD MOVEMENT, AND A THEATRICAL SENSIBILITY.
Founded by French Artistic Director/Choreographer Brice Mousset, OUI DANSE is a contemporary dance company based in New York City. Mousset, grounded in his intellectual education in human/ biological sciences and his eclectic dance background, observes the human condition with love and irony. He presents dance which pushes the limits of physicality, creating a contemporary movement vocabulary that is unguarded, visceral; marrying risk and technical bravura with the simplicity of pedestrian movement to connect us to our emotions. Mousset’s dancers, from different cultural and artistic backgrounds, share their individuality - their beauty, strengths and flaws -to reveal our common humanity.
Reverbdance APAP award winner for Best Choreography and Audience Favorite, OUI performs extensively at venues such as New York Live Arts, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside/Out Series, Riverside Dance Festival, Danspace Project at Saint Mark’s Church, Luminaria Arts Festival, and Dancers For Good Festival. In France, at the invitation of Pierre François Heuclin, OUI DANSE will perform at Vaison Danses International Dance Festival and will be in residency at Lachapelle Saint Marie invited by Abou Lagraa.
